Discover the spiritual sanctuary where devotion meets divinity
Kumasi (Kumashigi), a small town in Sindgi Taluk, Bijapur district, Karnataka, is a site of profound spiritual significance. As mentioned in Chapter 24 of Guru Charitra, it is where Shri Nrusimha Saraswati Swami, an incarnation of Shri Dattatreya, revealed his Vishwarupa to the great sage Shri Trivikrama Bharathi. This divine vision, only seen twice — once by Arjuna in the Mahabharata and here in Kumasi (Kumashigi) — cements the town’s place in spiritual history. Shri Trivikrama Bharathi, a devout scholar of the Vedas and a daily worshipper of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha, initially doubted Datta Guru’s divine nature. Upon realizing his mistake, he sought the Lord’s forgiveness. Pleased with his devotion, Shri Guru accepted him as a disciple, granting him liberation. Today, Kumasi (Kumashigi) houses the Samadhi of Shri Trivikrama Bharathi and a temple dedicated to Shri Nrusimha Saraswati Swami, attracting devotees from far and wide.
